Gifted Hands is a community of volunteers who have a passion to help improve the lives of their neighbors in New York City, neighbors who face challenges, often difficult ones, to having and sustaining quality of life.

For over 15 years, Gifted Hands has been reaching out to “the least and the last” in the city, helping them to build confidence and see value in themselves through discovering they have the power to create.

We serve our neighbors through art, music, spiritual support and other programs. We make community with mens and womens shelters, recovery programs, crisis pregnancy centers, HIV/AIDS residences, elder care residencies, youth-at-risk centers, foster care group homes, churches, after-school programs, and with people living on the street.

We connect and develop bonds with our neighbors through over forty different programs and projects in the city. Through our art programs, we share learning about how to create jewelry, do book binding, stained glass, wood working, sculpture, painting, decoupage, pen and ink drawing, and write poetry. Hundreds of our neighbors find great satisfaction and see life more positively just by picking up a paintbrush and showing us what they see…by molding a piece of clay into something they feel pride about having made…by learning how to sing music they could never have imagined even hearing.

We know that people who are hurting, who are at the margins of society, need to connect with others, they need to know that someone sees worth in them. Help change the life of one of your neighbors in this great city…come and be part of Gifted Hands!
